SACRED
A sacred vessel.
A woman's womb, meant to bear
Babies for her God.
A pope, a prophet
Dressed in consecrated robes
From pulpit on high
Laying down the law,
Not interested in the
Real consequences.
Poverty and pain,
Risking the well-being of
Mother and baby.
Belief that ancient
Texts, apply to current truths
Without revision.
In between signatures are female silhouettes, not of the stereotypical sexualized form, but of real women, each as individual as the choices she makes.
